#8 Minecraft Dungeons
- Developer: Mojang, Double Eleven
- Publisher: Xbox Game Studios
- Platforms: XBO, NS, PS4, PC
- Release: 2020
- Co-op: Online Only 4 Players
- Competitive Multiplayer: TBA
A new title spin-off is in the works and is slated to launch within 2020 called Minecraft Dungeons, a title that is based around classic dungeon crawling. If you enjoyed going through the game and exploring for loot then you’ll likely want to give Minecraft Dungeons an honest try. The game is all about seeking loot as you venture into the depths below. Of course, with that said, you won’t be placing or destroying blocks.
Instead, the levels are procedurally generated so you can go into the game with a fresh new world to explore and gather loot. If you’ve never played a dungeon crawler then this could be a great game to jump into as there won’t be any class base system attached. Normally there is a variety of classes you’ll be able to go through which limits the loot you can really make use of when discovered. In Minecraft Dungeons, players will be able to tweak and use any loot discovered making things a bit more lighthearted when playing through the game.
#7 Streets of Rage 4
- Developer: Dotemu, Lizardcube, Guard Crush Games
- Publisher: Dotemu
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO, NS

The Streets of Rage series has been around since the early 1990s and after its third installment launched in 1994, we haven’t seen the IP make any sort of comeback. Thankfully that finally changed decades later with Dotemu bringing out Streets of Rage 4. While visually the game looks a bit different, the same brawler beat ‘em up style gameplay is kept intact. So far, we know that the game will be taking place ten years after the events of Streets of Rage 3 where some familiar faces will be back in action such as Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding.

For instance, Mario will have the 1,000-Fold Arms ability for starters which will give players the chance to stretch your arms out further to deal more damage or complete puzzles. #5 Immortals Fenyx Rising
- Developer: Ubisoft
- Publisher: Ubisoft
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO, NS
- Release: 2020
- Co-op: TBA
- Competitive Multiplayer: TBA
During E3 2019 Ubisoft took to the stage during their press briefing. It was during this briefing that we got the first reveal of a brand new IP, Immortals Fenyx Rising. We only got a small trailer but this is from the same development team that previously worked on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. For now, it looks like the development team wanted to stick with the deep lore of Greek mythology with an open world for players to explore. Speaking of the world, another aspect that gamers are quickly comparing this title to is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The upcoming title does look to have taken some aesthetic cues from the Nintendo exclusive but we’re not sure if this game will top the installment when it launches.
In terms of the story, the game will follow a hero who must save the gods. After the gods were fallen to Typhon, the hero was granted special powers in hopes that the player can maneuver through the world and defeat the monsters that flood the environments.
#4 Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing In Disguise
- Developer: Toybox
- Publisher: Rising Star Games
- Platforms: NS
- Release: 2020
- Co-op: N/A
- Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
Do you recall Deadly Premonition? It w as a video game released back in 2010 and while it wasn’t a massive success, it grew a cult following. A lot of people compared to the game to Twin Peaks and felt that if the famed director and co-creator of the show, David Lynch, would have made the show into a game then that’s what Deadly Premonition would have been. This was a third-person survival horror game that followed a young FBI agent into a small town due to a strange murder case. Players are then introduced to this offbeat town where its clear that supernatural entities are at play.
During the September 2019 Nintendo Direct presentation, it was unveiled that not only will Nintendo Switch players receive a port of the game through the online market place but a sequel was inbound. We don’t have a ton of information now, but we do know that the story follows a young FBI agent named Aaliyah Davis who reopens an old investigation that takes her to the original protagonist, Francis York Morgan.
#3 Doom Eternal
- Developer: id Software
- Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO, NS, Google Stadia
- Release: 2020
- Co-op: N/A
- Competitive Multiplayer: Yes
Who doesn’t love Doom? It’s a video game franchise that has been around for years and while we had a short spurt of time where we didn’t really get anything from the franchise, id Software changed things around by bringing out a 2016 remake. Doom was an instant hit as it brought back the action-packed gameplay as you step into the shoes of Doom Slayer taking out demon scum. Now that you’re likely already done with the remake, you might have adverted your attention to its sequel, Doom Eternal. This installment will follow the events of the 2016 Doom remake where demons have invaded Earth. It’s now your job to save humanity by any means necessary.
This time around you’ll have new but familiar scenery to roam as you attempt to take out the otherworldly creatures flocking the planet. There’s even a game mode attached called Invasion where an online player could join into your campaign as one of the demons in hopes of taking you out. This will add a nice little layer of complexity as you can never be too sure just where you may run into a tough battle. Of course, this mode can be turned off and you’ll be able to enjoy the game without the sudden random player appearance.
#2 The Outer Worlds
- Developer: Obsidian Entertainment
- Publisher: Private Division
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO, NS
- Release: 2020 (NS)
- Co-op: N/A
- Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
Obsidian Entertainment has released several big RPG titles into the market and even worked on the Fallout franchise for an installment. That particular installment, Fallout: New Vegas, was such a big hit that it remains the best Fallout title for plenty of fans of the franchise. Now a few years later, the development studio decided to make their IP that is similar to the Fallout gameplay called The Outer Worlds. Currently, The Outer Worlds has already released into the market for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC platforms.
However, it was confirmed that the game would receive a port for the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2020. This RPG puts players into a protagonist that was stuck in frozen sleep for decades. Lost in space, a person labeled as a mad scientist rescues you in hopes of saving all the others frozen in space.
A lot has changed in this galaxy as it seems that the corporation that is responsible for colonizing planets have been considered to have turned into a tyranny. Your goal is to take a side and either help a resistance group overthrow the colony government control or side with the government. Outside of the main campaign, there are several side quests, locations to explore, NPCs to meet and a crew to obtain as you embark on your journey.
#1 Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Developer: Nintendo
- Publisher: Nintendo
- Platforms: Nintendo Switch
- Release: March 20, 2020
- Co-op: Online & Local
- Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
Animal Crossing: New Horizons was first stated to be a 2019 video game release but it was later pushed back to 2020. The video game franchise is much beloved and with this installment, players will be cleaning up a deserted island and building up a community. While the game looks like it will still retain the social aspect with NPCs, it does appear that the title is taking on some inspirations from the Harvest Moon franchise. One new aspect that was shown off during E3 2019 was that Nintendo implemented a crafting system where gamers can use their resources to build specific items that would be useful. Since its release the game has become a massive hit and a console seller as well.
2020 was quite the eventful year, to say the least. None of us could have predicted that the entire world would be enduring a health pandemic outbreak. As a result of this virus, several video game projects were pushed back into 2021 which means that some of those anticipated releases that were supposed to come out in 2020 will instead help fill out 2021. We’re expecting a packed year filled with games. As a result, check out some of the current most anticipated video games releasing on the Nintendo Switch.
#10 Bayonetta 3
- Developer: Platinum Games
- Publisher: Sega
- Platforms: NS
- Release: TBA
- Co-op: N/A
- Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
The Bayonetta franchise has a strong following. Fans can’t get enough of this hack-and-slash title featuring our favorite witch as she battles against all sorts of enemies. While you could argue that Bayonetta 2’s ending could be the end for this series, it looks like the developers are bringing out Bayonetta 3, but just what the game is about and when it will release is anyone’s guess at this point. Currently, all we had for this game is just a teaser showcasing the Bayonetta 3 title. We’re hopeful we’ll get more details and even a release for this next thrilling action title in 2021.
#9 Hollow Knight: Silksong

Fans of the indie hit Hollow Knight, are easily anticipating the release of a sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong. What originally started out as DLC and intended to be attached to the original title as a stretch goal, ended up turning into its own sequel installment. This time around, players take on the role of Hornet who has been kidnapped and taken to a whole new world. While we don’t have too many details at the moment for this game, we know that we are going to see over a hundred new enemy types, environments, and being Hornet, you’re going to have some new gameplay mechanics. Unfortunately, this game doesn’t have a release date quite yet, so we’re uncertain if we’ll actually see Hollow Knight: Silksong in 2021.
#8 Super Meat Boy Forever
- Developer: Team Meat
- Publisher: Team Meat
- Platforms: PC, NS, PS4, XBO
- Release: 2021
- Co-op: N/A
- Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
Super Meat Boy was a massive success as a platformer when it launched back in 2010. Now years later we’re finally getting a sequel known as Super Meat Boy Forever. What originally started out as a mobile game, Super Meat Boy Forever spiraled into its own standalone sequel that will be releasing on several video game platforms, much like the Nintendo Switch. Overall, the game follows a storyline in which Meat Boy and Bandage Girl are after Dr. Fetus who has stolen their child Nugget. In terms of gameplay, there are some new mechanics added in such as it being an endless runner. Pair that with the fact levels will be randomly generated will mean a quick and potentially difficult video game.
#7 Eastward
- Developer: Pixpil
- Publisher: Chucklefish
- Platforms: NS, PC
- Release: 2021
- Co-op: N/A
- Competitive Multiplayer: N/A

Set in a more top-down perspective, players will follow a journey of a hardworking miner named John who comes across a young girl named Sam deep underground. In a desperate flee of escaping, players embark on a quest to discover the origins behind Sam though along the way, it appears that new creatures have started to flood the local towns making your adventure all the more challenging.
Apparently, players will be able to explore several interesting locations as they make their way around the country using the old railway system. Likewise, you won’t be stuck playing as John the entire time as the game will have players switching between the unlikely pair in order to solve environmental puzzles and defeat enemies. This heartwarming adventure that’s filled with some wacky characters will make its way out into the market at some point in 2021.
#6 No More Heroes 3
- Developer: Grasshopper Manufacture
- Publisher: Marvelous
- Platforms: NS
- Release: 2021
- Co-op: N/A
- Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
Set two years after the events of Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes comes to No More Heroes III. The video game will retain the hack-and-slash the series is known for while featuring our protagonist Travis Touchdown. It seems that a new threat has emerged leaving Travis to stop an alien invasion and save humanity.
This will also mark ten years since the release of No More Heroes II so we’re expecting plenty of gamers interested in picking up the title, though, with such a large gap, we’re wondering if the development team has kept in-mind for newcomers.
#5 Bravely Default 2
- Developer: Silicon Studio
- Publisher: Square Enix
- Platforms: 3DS
- Release: 2021
- Co-op: TBA
- Competitive Multiplayer: TBA
Bravely Default was released back in 2012 as a traditional RPG title and it was a massive hit. The reception and response from this game caused the development studio to bring out a sequel known as Bravely Second: End Layer where it was released worldwide in 2016. Now fast forward a few years later and we get the surprise announcement of another installment to this much-beloved franchise.
There’s not much known about the upcoming sequel besides that it’s slated to launch on the Nintendo Switch in 2021. There is also some good news to those that may not have played the first two installments in this series. While it’s titled Bravely Default 2, this RPG will be a standalone installment. Gamers will venture into a new story and cast of characters while the mechanics will likely remain the same. We’re waiting to hear more about this title but so far all that has been released to the public was the announcement trailer at The Game Awards 2019.
#4 New Pokemon Snap
- Developer: Bandai Namco Studios
- Publisher: Nintendo
- Platforms: NS
- Release: TBA
- Co-op: N/A
- Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
The Nintendo 64 had a few iconic video game titles available on the platform and one of those gems was Pokemon Snap. It was a different kind of Pokemon game as players took the role of a photographer. Using a special vehicle that was on rails, players were tasked with going to different places around the world and snapping photos of Pokemon in the wild. It was all in an effort to build up more information about Pokemon and through different tools, players could attempt to get a Pokemon out into the open in order to get a photograph.
Since its release, there have been several rumors that another installment would be coming out but over the past few video game console generations, there was never any official announcement. Luckily that’s changed as New Pokemon Snap was unveiled for the Nintendo Switch. We don’t have a specific release date for this game quite yet at the time of writing this description. However, the game will be the same as you might remember it from the Nintendo 64 release. Players will once again use a camera to snap photos of Pokemon in their natural habitat.
Hollow Knight Switch Dlc
#3 Metroid Prime 4
- Developer: Retro Studios
- Publisher: Nintendo
- Platforms: NS
- Release: TBA
- Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
The Metroid Prime series was fantastic when it launched on the GameCube and later the Nintendo Wii. This was a first-person Metroid video game where players gunned down alien creatures while maneuvering through planets, though it’s been several years since we’ve seen a new installment to the Prime series.
While this game has been teased from Nintendo, it was later to be scrapped and completely restarted from scratch. During the beginning of 2019, Nintendo stated that the game was pushed back likely to not being appealed by the game or mechanics used for the title so we’re going to have to wait a bit longer but Metroid Prime 4 may find a release during 2021.
#2 Little Nightmares 2
- Developer: Tarsier Studios
- Publisher: Bandai Namco Entertainment
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO, NS
- Release: 2021
- Co-op: N/A
- Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
If you enjoyed Tarsier Studio’s Little Nightmares then you may have been holding out hope that a sequel would be in the works. The development team kept it a secret until Gamescom 2019 where it was unveiled that Little Nightmares 2 would be releasing in 2020 but it would eventually get delayed into 2021. The sequel to the platformer is inbound, but you’ll be taking on the role of a new child named Mono.
It’s been stated that this game will take place after Six had escaped the Maw, but a new series of hostile worlds and obstacles are in your way of freedom. This game is a fairly new announced title right now at the time of writing this so not a whole lot of information has been released so far. You can likely expect plenty of new hostile levels to progress through and it seems that players will be able to wield some items in the level, likely to use against the horrifying enemies littered throughout the in-game world.
#1 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel
- Developer: Nintendo
- Publisher: Nintendo
- Platforms: Nintendo Switch

- Co-op: TBA
- Competitive Multiplayer: TBA
It was quite a surprise to see that Nintendo was ready to pump out another Zelda title after The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. We don’t know how far away we are to the video game’s launch date but we do know that Nintendo is working on an upcoming sequel. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was initially released in 2017 and it received critical acclaim for being not only an excellent Zelda title to the series but an outstanding open-world title. During E3 2019, Nintendo unveiled to the world that a sequel to the title was in development.
Hollow Knight Co Op Mod
We really don’t have too much information yet as all the game has is a trailer just over a minute long. It’s within this trailer that we see both Link and Zelda go into an underground chamber where a new enemy seems to have awoken. This game is instantly on the top of most Nintendo Switch owner’s anticipated releases for 2021 but we can’t confirm the game will release within 2021 year. Nintendo has yet to state just when the game will be releasing but for now, we can at least rest easy knowing that the company is hard at work with a sequel.
